I'm a Smooth Criminal...

This should be a post about exfoliators, seeing this is generally a beauty blog but nope...It's about my amazing Michael Jackson Tshirt :) I got it from the Brand Alley clearance sale, but it's sold out now...Sorry!
It's so sparkly :D

Just to keep a bit of the beauty stuff, a good site with loads of recipes for a face exfoliator.

EOTN using the Naked Palette

My friend did the following look using the Naked Pallete using Gunmetal on the lid, Creep in the crease and then Zero eyeliner. I did the same look the week before but forgot to take pics, her is probably better than mine anyways!!

EOTN - Charity Event

I went to a charity event this evening, it was a dinner/fashion show. They're usually quite boring, but it's for the cause, and it's an outing, I guess. The charity was Rahma (mercy) which helps the people in Albania and Kosovo. It also helps a lot of orphans, which is something I think is a really important cause to support...Imagine being without any parents...These little kids, losing their parents to wars or illness. It's so sad.  :-(
Anyways, on to the more superficial thing of my EOTN...
I used the Naked palette (again!), and to think I was so dismissive of it when I got it.

Lid - Toasted.
Crease - Naked and Darkhorse
Highlight - Virgin
Top Liner - Zero and Hustle pressed on top to smudge it out.
Waterline - Sabaya black, I find Zero is too thick a formula for the waterline, and it wears of weirdly...It stays but goes all bitty :s
Mascara - Giorgio Armarni Eyes To Kill.

Hope you liked it!

Hair...Yeah, I'm obsessed with it!

I know I have done quite a few posts on hair recently, but I was so worried about my shedding.
Well, I think I have got it under control using the following products and techniques:
1) 1 Teaspoon of honey, 2 teaspoons of honey, a drizzle of olive oil. Mix it up until its combined, and put all over your scalp. Ensuring it covers the whole head. Then put the rest on the ends of your hair. Leave on as long as possible. I usually leave it on for about an hour or so. Then shampoo out.
2) Do no use conditioner. Ok, this sounds like really bad advice but after using the yoghurt concoction, I shampoo'd my hair and I had no fall out, however when I went to condition my hair the fall out was a massive amount. Then, the next time, I put it on just my ends, a little less fall-out but still quite a bit. So, I went off to buy leave in conditioner stuff. I already use the Aussie spray, however I wanted something a bit richer. I bought a Simple shampoo (because it sounds so kind, and I wanted to look after my scalp), John Fried Root booster (so they get stronger) and Aussie heat protecting cream/conditioner.
Using the shampoo, and the leave in stuff, my hair hasn't fallen at all...Ok just about 5 hairs which I guess is nothing. So, if you're experiencing hair loss, try this technique. By the way, if you read my previous post, no conditioner was my revelation!

3) Hair tablets: I bought Wellwoman Tricologic, which were EXPENSIVE! £34.99..For tablets. I was so desperate I bought them. You take 2-3 tablets a day, I started with 2 but after 2 days, I've increased it to 3. They're by the same guys who make Perfectil, so it's basically a Perfectil tablet, but with extra hair nutrients. I've been taking it for a week now, so can't really comment on extra hair growth or anything. I'll keep taking them though, and report back. However, could it be a coincidence that I have started them, and my hair loss has significantly stopped. However, that leaves me with the dilema...what is working!??!?!

Look at how huge each tablet is...I suggest if you decide to take these then have it with a very sweet drink, as you can taste it as soon as you put it in your mouth, and it is not nice!

So, with the above things I've been doing my hair has finally stopped falling. I'm a lot happier, but now I'm back to square one, and having to get the thickness back again. Oh well, I'll deal with that next...I think I already know what I'm going to do...Drastic measures and all that, but I'll leave that for another post...

Has anyone else had hair loss due to medication or anything other factors? What did you do?

Body Shapes

This is going to be a really quick post as I've just got back from the gym, so am sweaty, but before I wash my hair I wanted to do the yoghurt & honey thing - which really works :) However, I'm going to do another hair post later on tonight or tomorrow as I have new products, and I had a revelation...

I was talking to my friend today about bodyshapes. I always thought I was an hour-glass (not the sexy kind unfortunately!) , but I'm big/small/big. However, my friend said I'm big/small/small. I just don't know what I am, but googling it, I found this article where Trinny and Susannah spoke about 12 possible bodyshapes. I'm not any of them either...!! I think that I'll stick to hourglass...It's the closest to my shape.

What bodyshape are you? Does anyone else not come into a category!? How many categories are there...?!

Skin & Hair update

I wanted to do a blog post about hair, and as I'll be all over the place next week (Cardiff Monday & Tuesday, London Thursday & Friday) I thought let me do it now as it's just a lazy Sunday.

So, the Roaccutane hair shedding has started, and with a vengeance this time. It's so obvious, and everywhere I go I'm leaving hairs, and the hairs that come out in the bath...It makes me want to cry. I had got my hair to such a nice, thick, long state. It has been shedding so much so that I decided to come off the medication. I didn't want to carry on at the risk of going bald. I haven't been taking it for a week now, and I have a few new spots which is actually worrying...Does this mean I'll be getting spots again?! So, I have stopped using the Lush cleanser and have gone back to Clearasil deep clean and am using Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair. Now, this product is so good. It has really refined my skin, and it brings a glow too. It has started fading my scars a bit too. I am really impressed with it. It has even tightened up the skin on my neck and face. This isn't something I knew that I had, but now that I have seen the difference, obviously I've aged more than I realised?! The product has also started evening out my skin tone. I haven't seen such a huge difference to my skin in such a long time. For £38, and you only use about 3 drops for the whole face, it will last a long time. On day I feel my skin isn't looking it's best, I add a whole droppers worth, and wake up with clean and fresh skin. Did you see how I just did a review within a ramble?! Anyways, back to the ramble, I think I'll just dig out the panoxyl 10 and hopefully the spots will clear up.

Ok, now on to the hair. So, the shedding...So upsetting, even the garlic shampoo had made no difference. My mum was watching one of her Indian channels, and there are quite a few beauty tips shows. On one of them, the lady called up about hair loss and the lady recommended to use a mixture of yoghurt & honey. I tried this today, with a little bit of olive oil and I have to say, my hair fell considerably less. It's only when I put conditioner on did I see the hair loss. So, I've decided to carry on doing this and using conditioner only at the ends. Also, when I straightened it, I only did the ends, so the roots don't get damaged and fall out. Please everyone pray that I don't go bald lol! Oh, I've also started taking these. They're like by the same guys that make the Perfectil skin, hair and nails, but more for hair. It still has all the skin and nail nutrients in, but with added hair stuff. Took my first dose today, so will update after 2 weeks I think. For £34.99, they better work!

I think I've rambled on enough, so I'll stop now! If anyone has any tips for hair loss, then please do let me know...I'll try anything!!

Naked Palette look

Hey Guys,

So, I went out for my birthday  last night - Wagamamas & cookie dough at Pizza Hut...Good times :D They ended up making 2 cookie doughs but we asked for one to share, so we had a free one :D Couldn't eat it though!
Anyways, I did a smokey eye look with my palette with gunmetal on the lid and creep on the outer corner, virgin as a highlight, then with black liner all around. Unfortunately, my camera battery went, and I was so tired by the time I got home that I couldn't wait to take my makeup off and sleep, so no pics. However, my friend did a look with her palette and it was gorgeous - She used smog and half baked on the lid, creep on the outer corner and virgin as highlight. Then the black liner. Luckily, she remembered to take photos for me :D (iPhone camera!)
How gorgeous is this look?! I love it, and it looked so nice on her.

I know initially I was like yeah the palettes nice but not that special etc...but I've changed my mind! All the colours are gorgeous and with the pencils, you can really just take it anywhere, and it's so versatile. Ok, so I have most the colours here and there, but to have them all in one place is great! Plus, the packaging is so nice...Brown velvet with gold writing...Love it! Totally worth the £27. Plus the primer potion has the new and improved, bent wand. I'm glad I bought it now.

On another, totally non-beauty note, United won! Woohoo!! :D

Hope you enjoyed this look, even though it wasn't mine haha!!

Ok, no more procrastinating - to the gym!!

Review: Lush Herbalism

On the day I got my manicure, we had 2 hours to kill because the manicurist told us we didn't need to book an appointment, however when we went she said she couldn't do it for another 2 hours as she had appointments...Yeah, Nails inc just keeps getting better & better right?! So, we decided to walk around and because we were fasting we didn't want to do much, Lush it was. Does anyone else just love going in and playing with their stuff and the bowls of water!? So much fun! Started with the bath bombs, then the bars, the bath jellies and then finally skin care...As you can imagine, our hands were squeaky clean!

The products that most stood out to me were the cleansers. They looked so weird! Black, green and then a beige looking one (click the links to go to the products). I decided to go for the Herbalism cleanser. Its for oily skin, even though I don't have oily skin anymore, its a habit now, I can't accept that I don't have oily skin anymore. The cleanser includes chlorophyll (From what I can remember from GCSE biology, its the stuff that makes plants green!) nettle, rice vinegar, rosemary and kaolin. It then also includes ground almonds and rice bran to exfoliate. Good stuff, right?!

So, to the cleanser...It smells really vinegary. Not nice!! However, it's tolerable, and doesn't last so don't let it put you off. Once you wash your face with this cleanser, your skin feels soft and moisturised. I really liked it. It's easy to use, you take a little bit of the green stuff, mix it with water in your hands and it turns to a paste, you just have to use it like you would a normal exfoliator. My main issue with this cleanser is that it doesn't take off makeup. No matter how many attempts foundation and eyeliner doesn't budge. So, I tend to use this first thing in the morning, and then another cleanser to wash off makeup in the evening. This is really inconvenient, as it ultimately means if you're a make up user, you need 2 cleansers. If you're ok with this, then go for it as the cleanser leaves your skin feeling soft, and glowy. Also, the 100g tub would last you ages, as you only use a tiny amount every day, and it's about £5 so good value for money in this sense. However, if you're after convenience, and don't want separate cleansers then I wouldn't recommend this.

To the photos....

Has anyone tried the other Lush cleansers? What do you think of them? Should I try them all???

Cakes & Brownies

I just wanted to give you guys the recipe I use for Cupcakes (& 'big' cakes), frosting and brownies.

Cake:
•6 oz (175 g) self-raising flour.
•1 rounded tsp baking powder
•3 large eggs
•6 oz (175 g) soft butter
•6 oz (175 g) caster sugar
•½ tsp vanilla extract (not the essence!)
•3 tbsp milk
To make it chocolate add:
1 tbsp instant coffee granules
2 tbsp cocoa powder (Or more if you prefer it really chocolately - I just go by eye with this. Taste the mixture and judge!)

Method:
Beat the butter and the sugar until light and creamy. Beat the eggs and add vanilla extract. Gradually add to the butter mixture, putting in a tablespoon of the flour to prevent the mixture curdling.
Fold in the remaining flour (& chocolate & coffee for the chocolate cake). Spread the mixture evenly into prepared tins, or cupcake cups for cupcakes, dont overfill! Eat the remaining mixture...I love cake mixture more than cake! Bake for 20 mins or until the sponge is lightly golden and doesn't wobble. The way I check is that if you touch it, it springs back up. Leave the sponges in the tin for 5 mins before transferring onto a wire rack to cool.

Frosting...Well icing as we say in Britain(!):
5 oz (150g) Butter - softened
8 oz (250g) icing sugar
1 tsp vanilla
2 tsp hot water
Add cocoa powder if you want to make it chocolate - again, just judge it by taste!
Mix it all up and spread on a cold cake :)

Brownies Recipe:
(This is copied from The Hummingbird Bakery cookbook - AMAZING book if you like sweet things!)
200g dark chocolate, roughly chopped
175g unsalted butter
325g caster sugar
130g plain flour
3 eggs
icing sugar, to decorate
Method:
1. Preheat the oven to 170C / 325F / GM3
2. Put the chocolate an butter in a heatproof bowl over a saucepan of simmering water (do not let the base of the bowl touch the water). Leave until melted and smooth.
3. Remove from the heat. Add the sugar and stir until well incorporated. Add the flour and stir until well incorporated. Finally, stir in the eggs and mix until thick and smooth.
4. Spoon the mixture into the prepared baking tray (eat the remaining mixture - Seriously, its so good!!) and bake in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes, or until flaky on the top but still soft in the centre. Be careful not to overcook otherwise the edges will become hard and crunchy. Leave to cool completely before dusting with icing sugar, to decorate. I cooked mine for 20mins as the edges were burning, but the inside was still a bit raw - Really nice if you want gooey brownies. I think 25mins would be perfect.

With both the brownie and chocolate cake recipes, if you under cook them by about 10 minutes, they will be amazing desserts to eat with ice-cream...Yum!

Enjoy!! :-)

Happy Birthday to me :D

Hey Guys,

How is everyone? As per the title, it's my birthday today! However, I spent it on a course about the UK Energy Market...It was interesting I guess, and we got a good lunch :-) I'm too tired to do anything today, but will be going out on Saturday.

Anyways, my Naked Palette is here ...Well it came yesterday, but we missed the post so I went and collected it today. I love the colours, its really nice. However, I feel like I already have them all in some form or another. The product itself is great, can't complain, I just feel as though I could've done without it!It's got some great, well pigmented colours and it's convenient having all the colours in one place. If you're a neutral lover like me, chances are you already have the colours and if you want to save money, I would say you could do without it. (OMG, I am really getting older...The 'Me' yesterday would've just thought who cares?!)

So, on to the photos...Of course!
I think I'm most excited about using the brown eyeliner!

In other non-beauty news...Look at what I am going to eat in a bit...
Good Times...Obviously not all three of them!

ALSO....

Look at how cute this card my friend made for me :D
She knows my obsession with koalas (they're sooo cute!) and made me this card. It's so amazing!

Harrods, but no haul?!

Hey Guys,

How is everyone? I got back from London this morning, so am knackered! Had a good journey back up though as I had a friend with me, so we gossiped the whole way here! We also ended up eating 4 pastries from the hotel buffet between us...This is such a bad week for me...!!

So, I popped into Harrods for some shopping but I didn't buy anything! Can you believe it?! No makeup, no clothes...Just a few food bits! Ok, so I bought a few things, but food doesn't really count. Some macaroons and baklava!?! I needed to get some Laduree macaroons though, and OMG they're amaaazzing! If anyone gets the chance to try them, then do it! Just don't try the orange flower flavour, as it tastes like shower gel :-s Vanilla, Rose and Pistachio are my faves, especially pistachio. The actual tea room is so beautiful and decadent, I want to eat there next time. The packaging is so beautiful too...Like I bought something from a designer store. I bought some on Monday, and we finished them on Tuesday for lunch, so I went back on Tuesday for another box...£22 on biscuits in 2 days....No comment, right?!
Poor quality photos:
The caramel melted in my car :-(
First box all gone!

I can't believe I've just done a huge post on macaroons...!! To end it, let me give you a link to the recipe for macaroons in case I've given you cravings....Although it wont be as good as Laduree haha!

Tomorrows my birthday, but I'm going to be stuck in a training course...It's ok though, at least I wont be working.

I will do a proper post sometime this week...

Weight loss & Anaemia

Omg I ate so much yesterday, that I woke up feeling full and sick. I then had a coconut cupcake with my coffee this morning, which did not help! I've decided to take this week off, and then go back to the gym. I only have 5lbs to lose now to get to my goal weight :D I really should've tried to lose it during Ramadhan, but with all the gorgeous desserts, and fried food I couldn't resist! The plus side is I didn't put on any weight. Has anyone got a Weight Watchers scale? Does anyone know why I'm a different weight every time I go on it??? Which is the best scale to get? I like to know my weight, so in case I put on a couple of pounds, I can quickly go back to losing them before it gets too late. Also, since taking roaccutane, I'm always bloated...No matter what, my belly is always full of air. I've started eating an Activia yoghurt a day which seems to be helping. In Asian culture, they say that you have a lot of heat in your body. I'm not 100% sure how to explain this, but this article explains it well. Basically, the medicine creates a lot of heat in your body, and so is reacting by making me bloated.

I'm also having issues going to the loo - too much  info, I know! But it's true haha...I hate it!! Although, I think that's primarily due to my iron medicine that I have to take due to my anaemia. I stopped taking it but now my iron levels have depleted so much that it's become dangerous so I'm having to take them. Does anyone else have anaemia? How do you keep yourself regular?? (Sorry!) Anaemia is actually really common amongst females, and most people don't even know that they have it. It's when you don't have enough red blood cells in your body, The red blood cells take up oxygen in the lungs and carry it to all the body's cells. Hence why people with anaemia are usually pale. You know me, I don't like to plagiarise so I found this helpful article. The most common symptoms are:

  • Looking pale.
  • Feeling breathless after little exercise.
  • Constantly tired, and have no energy,
  • A rapid pulse or palpitations (the sensation of feeling your heartbeat thumping in your chest) - I had this one and I thought I was having a heart attack. I had to go to A&E, have an ECG and all sorts. Once I started my iron back up, it went.
If you feel you have any of these symptoms, then I suggest going to a GP and getting a blood test done.

I have so many other things I need to blog about, including cakes and recipes, Dove volume shampoo and conditioner (good stuff!), Advanced Night Repair review (good stuff again!) and on Monday I'm hoping to go to Harrods and Laduree for my birthday woohoo :D :D LOVE HARRODS!! So, I will be taking pics. I've been looking for 3 outfits for my 3 birthday celebrations, but have so far only found one dress that I wore yesterday as I wanted to change out of my Asian outfit and wanted a new thing to wear for Eid. So, if anyone has seen some nice dresses, please let me know! I want to start doing OOTD's but I'm not sure if anyone would be interested in my style, it's pretty simple :-s

Have a great day everyone, and remember to get your iron levels checked out!

Quick EOTD update - I did the eyeliner...

Sorry for the bad photo, it was taken with my iPhone.
It made it look very Eygyptian...Loved it!

EOTD - Eid :D

After my practice EOTD at the weekend (I think!), Rhamnousia fro Desi Girl Does Makeup said to use less colours. I couldnt with that batch, but then I thought Shameera, Golden Lemon pigment by Mac!! Duuh! So, With a little Two faced Shadow Insurance, fix+ and Golden Lemon, I came up with the below. Highlight was a Rock&Republic Shadow with my By Candlelight msf. I was inspired by the Beyonce look in the Telephone video, but I'm rubbish with eyeliner, and was in a rush this morning so I left that bit out. I may try it later, and post pics.
I really like how the colour emphasises the brown in my eyes, and makes them stand out. Also, the black liner really brings out the shape. I'm quite proud of this extremely easy look!!
Hope you like it!

I did sort the dodgy lash out lol!
I'm off to eat now...
I will put a recipe on for cakes later on today/tomorrow :D

Really proud of these chocolate ones though :-)
Random post, I know...But I can't sleep!! Oh, I've bought Lush Herbalism which is a face cleanser. I'll be doing a review on it sometime this week, maybe tomorrow when the guests die down!

Have a great day everyone :D

My first manicure

Being a nail biter all my life, I've never ever had a manicure. I've had acrylics put on, but thats about it for my nails. Whilst fasting, I stopped biting my nails and they grew without me realising, which was a great way of  kicking the habit! My nails still aren't pretty to look at, but I'm adamant to get them there.
So, to the manicure. I had it done at a Nails inc concession in Debenhams, and I was not impressed. We paid £38 each, and all we got was a 20min manicure which was a file, cuticle, 1 minute moisturising cream massage (combined both hands!) and polish. I'm sorry, but if I'm paying that much, I expect a lot more. For a treatment called 'Heavenly Hands', I sure didn't feel heavenly afterwards. I did a little research, and at another salon, £37 would buy me a deluxe manicure including all the above, plus exfoliation, mask and massage.
Anyways, below are some photos of my hand....I went for a natural colour. It was peach based, but came out clear on my nails. Please don't laugh at them!!!

Have you guys ever had a disappointing treatment?? Any tips on how to make my nails and hands look much better?

Random Hair Photos

Just as the title said...Photos of my new hair. Actually, it's nothing different, just shorter and better condition.
I had to crop these as I'm in the lounge and everyone was around me and didn't want to put my whole family online!

The below photo is a weird angle, but I'll put it up anyways...
Overall, I am really happy with the cut. He did a great job. I got it done at Rachel Hammond (Leicester), by Kyle.

I'm also going to do a post about the dye that I use soon. Its called Sanotint, I get it from my threading place, but you can find it here. It's a permanent, natural hair dye which has no ammonia. I really recommend it, it actually leaves my hair in better condition. I haven't dyed my hair in months, so the above hair is probably washed out dye colour. I use No.3, natural brown. I've just bought No.5, Golden Chesnut which I'll hopefully do sometime this week.

Ok, I'm off to eat some chocolate...I've been craving it all day!

Practice EOTD

Eid is coming up next week - I'm so excited :D All that food...!! I'm making brownies using the recipe from the Hummingbird Bakery recipe book. It's such a good book, so if you like baking & desserts, get that book. I've been to the one in Kensington and the cupcake was goood!! I tried the cupcake recipe, and they come out nice too.
My dress for Eid is yellow, and so I need an eye look for it. So, playing around, I came up with the below look:
Using the following products:
No foundation/face stuff - Still in my Pj's!!
Mac Rubenesque paint pot
Lid
Bourjois Banane e/s
Frontcover yellow e/s
Mac Crushed Metals
Highlight
Frontcover Biscuit e/s
Crease
Urban Decay oil slick

Mac Blackliner - cant remember the name
Giorgio Armarni - Eyes to Kill Mascara.

What do you guys think??

Liz Earle Superskin Moisturiser

Hey Guys,

Hope everyone is well.

I just wanted to do a quick update, I bought Liz Earle Superskin Moisturiser yesterday, and have used it today for the first time. I really like how my makeup applies after it, but the smell...Omg it's so bad!! It's meant to be fragrance free, but it has a fragrance...! I'm really bad with smells, I've been known to spray the office with my Charlie Red (cheap, but it smells so nice, and Charlie Pink smells like Amour Amour). Anyways, so any kind of weird/not pleasant smell I can not take. I'm just unsure as to what to do with the cream, do I carry on using it and not putting it around my nose or just stop using it!? I also bought the Superskin Concentrate which smells gorgeous, but it's a night time product...Not that day/night makes a difference to me. So I'm thinking of using a little of that near my nose area and then the cream.

Has anyone else had a problem like this before? What did you do???

Ok, this was such a random post, but the smells been bugging me all day haha!!

Have a great, nice smelling weekend!!

I can't sleep

I can't sleep, so I thought I would do a random post, full of waffle...Can't imagine anyone wanting to read this!

My hair has started to shed again, so I bought this product from Boots yesterday. It smells really nice, and tingles giving a really cool sensation on the scalp. It's got caffeine in it, which is meant to stop the shedding cycle of your hair...We'll see. I've also ordered another tub of Extreme elasticizer...I'm piling on the good stuff, as I don't want my hair thinning again! I'll do a review on the tonic is a week or so, once I've used it properly. I'm getting my hair chopped tomorrow, but remember I said I was colouring it like Audrina? Well, I decided against it and will do it once my hair stops shedding. I will have Audrina hair...One day!

I went to the hospital today, for my Roaccutane check up. I've been kept on the same dose, and this will be my final 8weeks...Pheew. Although I haven't had half the potential side effects of this drug, in fact at the moment all I'm struggling with is dry lips, I am fed up of being on medication. I know it makes me sound moany, as the drug has improved my skin no-end, but I just don't want to be on it anymore!

I also bought the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair yesterday. I really want a sophisticated anti-ageing product and a lot of people have recommended this. So, I'll try it out, if it doesn't do anything, then I have decided I am going to bite the bullet and pay £100 for Crem de la Mer. I know it's good stuff, but I just can't part with £100 for a cream. Although, with work I get bonus bond vouchers which can be used in Selfridges, so I really don't know what I'm complaining about...! I'll do a review on the Advanced Night Repair in a couple of weeks, once I can see any difference.

I ordered a couple of things from boohoo.com, but I'm going to return them. I liked the bag, so I may keep that, but the dresses both look a bit cheap in real life, so I'll be returning them.
I bought:
*Alexis oversized shopper bag
*Leena Animal and Lace Print Dress
*Kim Floral Sleeved Dress (the stitching on this one was coming apart at the bottom!)
Having said this, I still love boohoo, and all its clothes!

Hhhmm...What else can I waffle on about?! Oh I'm growing my nails! I've always been a nail biter, since I was young. This month, as I've been fasting, and I can only eat from around 8pm-4am in a day, I haven't bitten my nails. I am so proud of myself, and will be having my first ever manicure next week :D I'll of course be taking photos to show my nails off! I'm so excited!

Ok, I think I've waffled enough for 4am....!! I hope I haven't bored anyone to death!

Goodnight all...
Lots of Love from MyFrostedWorldXXX
