Today's lunch!

GeoTagged, [N52.59800, E1.18784]

This cereal tastes soooo good!! :-)

Make yourself over...

Ok to be more clear...MYSELF over!! I have put on weight & my face feels like a mess, so I've decided to take control, rather than just keep complaining about it & putting on more pounds in the process!

My friend showed me an app on her iPhone last night (whilst in Nandos eating peri peri fries lol!) that calculates the amount of calories you need & it has a log so that you can count calories. Basically, as I've hurt my leg so can't do much exercise at the moment & I'm planning on losing 1kg a week (around 2.2 pounds) I've been put on 872 Calories a day. I know it sounds really low & unhealthy but it's only for a week! Then once my leg improves, I'll be bumped up to 1200 calories! I've already started & feel full! I don't usually eat breakfast straight away, but around 10am I have some fruit & a yoghurt. Then for lunch I had special k cereal. For a snack I've got a special k cereal bar. Then dinner I have soup! I'm going to try the treadmill tonight with my leg - thank god I have one at home so it won't be embarrasing if hobble off!!
Ok just little disclaimer so that I don't get into trouble - this is for me, and I'm not suggesting it for anyone else!!

Ok, for my skin-my doctor is useless!! So I got him to refer me to the hospital... I'll be going on roaccutane. I'm kinda excited, but also quite worried as people have the most random side effects. But the nurse said that if we looked at the side effects of paracetamol we wouldn't even take that. I'm going to give my blood tmw morning& will get my first prescription (hopefully) on the 20th of January. I have one problem though - I can't swallow tablet :- s lol! I find it so difficult! But I'll learn! Has anyone else been on the medication, or know of anyone who has?? I'd love to hear the stories! I'm obsessed with watching YouTube roaccutane diaries right now...some people respond so well, but others don't...I really hope I'm a good reacter!!

So, is anyone else doing anything this year to change themselves? I really hope I don't get fed up of my diet, because I'm bad like that....!!! Any motivational tip would be great!!

The First Day...

Omg I think that this day is the worst day of the year! You have time off over xmas& then even if you work 29th-30th, it's ok because you know you have the new year to look forward to. Right now, unless if you've booked a holiday or something exciting, we have nothing to look forward to :-(
Right now, I'm sat at work & bored out of my head...praying that the new year brings me a new job lol! I feel like eating chocolate, but I've started my diet, and so instead am sat here with a cup of green tea with mint... Sccoooorrrre!! Lol!
Ok, rant over...lol! XxxxX

Bored...

I've  hurt my leg and so can't go out or do anything so I am SO SO bored :-( I hurt it on Boxing day, I wont say how as it's embarrasing :-s ...But I'm getting annoyed with it now!! It hurts to walk, but I thought to toughen up and go New Years sales shopping today, but it's snowing here so there goes that idea...Omg so bored!!
Anyways, so I decided to cook a nice lunch ro cheer me up, and made up a sauce/marinade for chicken which was so good so I had to share!! I haven't got a name for it, but because it's green, I'll call it green chicken lol!!

What you'll need:

2-3 pieces of chicken
1-2 potatoes to chip
Marinade
3 fresh green chillies
a handful of fresh corriander
1 teaspoon of ground cumin
Juice of one fresh lemon or 2 Limes
1 teaspoon of honey
1/2 onion
3-4 cherry tomatoes
1 teaspoon of fresh garlic
1 teaspoon of fresh ginger
2-3 tablespoons of Natural yoghurt
Salt & Pepper to taste.

Method
Blend all the marinade ingredients in a blender, I use the magic bullet (love that thing).

Line an over proof dish with foil and put in the chicken and chopped up potatoes. Drizzle a little oil & salt over it and coat everything.

Pour the marinade over, and make sure everything is covered & mix through.

Parcel up and put into the oven for about an hour, but keep checking it. I put it on 180 degrees, but it all depends on your oven, so dont want to give times, and you end up with raw or burnt chicken lol!!

Ok, once its out it'll look like this...It tastes better than it looks lol!!

ENJOY :-)

The amazing properties of honey

Honey is a natural remedy that everyone knows about. Its benefits are vast, from a sore throat to acne. Something I learnt just recently is that honey comes in grades (check out http://www.ams.usda.gov/AMSv1.0/getfile?dDocName=STELDEV3011895). Honey has also been recommended in various religions as a great healer, so there must be something good in it!! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honey). I really love that it's something that comes from flowers and bee's!! It's just amazing stuff!!
There are different categories of honey(Info from http://www.honeyo.com/types.shtml):

Comb Honey (honeycomb)
Direct from the hive honey-filled beeswax comb as stored naturally by the bees.

Liquid Honey (extracted)
Prepared by cutting off the wax cappings and whirling the comb in a honey extractor, where centrifugal force moves the honey out of the cells.

Creamed Honey (granulated)
Made by blending one part finely granulated honey with nine parts liquid honey. The mixture is stored at about 57 degrees until it becomes firm.

Chunk Honey
Comb honey in a jar with liquid honey poured around it.

There are many different types of honey, but the best for skin care is Manuka honey. This honey is gathered from Manuka bushes, primarily in New Zealand. I heard somewhere, so I'm not 100% that this is the same bush we get tea tree oil from...but don't quote me on that!! Manuka honey has special anti bacterial powers, which are graded by 'Unique Manuka Factor' (UMF).

10 is the minimum grade it can be to have an affect. Honey which is 10 or above is ACTIVE Manuka honey, but you must be careful, as a lot of honeys are marketed as active, but are not. If you want to learn more, I found this website (http://www.manukahoney.co.uk/index.shtml) extremely helpful.

I love this stuff, I bought a bottle from Marks & Spencers, it was around £10 - Oh yeah, the stuff is not cheap if you want a good quality honey. You can get it online, but be careful you buy good quality stuff which has been approved to have no less than a grade 10. Mine below has a 10+ grading.

As you can see, its not runny like normal honey. It's quite thick and creamy so it's easy to apply as a mask on the face. I usually just put it on in the evening for a good couple of hours - Once you wash it off, you feel your skin is moisturised and clean. Don't put too much on though, as when it warms up with your skin temperature, it drips lol...I've had accidents! Just put on a thin layer, its sufficient enough. If you want to make it into a face mask, you can mix in rice flour (this will turn into an exfoliator when you come to wash it off), tumeric & yoghurt for oily skin, and milk and rice flour for dry skins. Another thing I do (when I remember!) is when I put oil in my hair, I put in a bit of honey at the ends so that it nourishes them.

I hope this post helps, and if you have any further questions, just ask :-) I'm not a honey expert, but I'll try to help!! :-)
